Classrooms as Pieces of a Puzzle
The building is driven by the playfulness of children, the school as a playground for learning. Indoor and outdoor learning spaces encourage creativity and self-expression.
The site is in a dense residential area of portland.
It is very well connected to the rest of the city by highways and public transportation like the bus. In our design process we wanted to respond to local climate conditions which ranges widely in temperatures, mostly cool with lots of rain. Also, the solar path on the site allows for us to take advantage of the space we have to gain solar energy. We’ll go over this in more detail.
